House showdown for Frank seat. Huntsman would beat Hatch. 'Temple mailer' still an issue.

Happy Tuesday. Six days until the Utah Legislature opens its 2011 General Session, and the first day will not come without a bit of theater as Rep?-Craig Frank sees whether his colleagues will seat him or turn him away. The Utah County GOP pushed back its meeting to name a replacement for District 57, meaning Frank may — or may not — keep his title. [Trib] [DNews]. The Herald urges a speedy resolution. [Herald]

Topping the news: New poll by UtahPolicy.com and the Exoro Group shows Sen. Orrin Hatch would lose to both Jon Huntsman Jr. and Rep. Jason Chaffetz if the latter two decided to run for the Senate in 2012. [KSL] [DNews] (Other interesting numbers: Utahns would choose Mitt Romney over Huntsman for president, 48-28%; and Gov. Gary Herbert would beat Rep. Jim Matheson 50-40%, according to the poll.)
