Sochi 2014's transportation system has been outstanding, efficiently getting me everywhere I need to go - and in one episode, somewhere I didn't need to go.I gave myself a break on Day 15 of the Games, skipping the ski jumping portion of the Nordic combined team event. I planned to catch the second segment, cross-country skiing, and figured it would be staged at the cross-country ski stadium. So I took a bus from Sochi to the mountain press center, then another bus and a tram, followed by a 15-minute walk to the stadium on soft snow (on a gorgeous afternoon), only to find the venue deserted. Checking the schedule, I discovered the entire event was held at the Ski Jumping Center. So ... I retrace the walk, tram ride and bus ride, catch another bus and walk up steep stairs to the ski jumping venue. Maybe 30 seconds later, Park City's Billy Demong walked into the mixed-zone interview area. Now, that's an Olympic moment. - Kurt Kragthorpe
