Watching the huge bags with the familiar green, yellow and black logo of the Jamaican bobsled team circle around the carousel in two airports Wednesday, I looked for Winston Watts.

The Evanston, Wyo., resident was nowhere to be found. Turns out, he was at the bobsled track in the mountains above Sochi, Russia, checking out the course and hoping his equipment eventually would catch up to him.

In July 2012, I profiled Watts' bid to return to the Olympics after competing in 2002. Considering he would be 47 by now, I had my doubts about the legitimacy of his efforts. But he made it, and will be competing next week in the two-man event against Park City's Steven Holcomb and other international stars.

Watts moved to Evanston nine years ago, long after the Jamaicans had made the town their headquarters for 2002 training.
