Donny Osmond made television history in Great Britain this weekend — and British TV viewers and critics weren't happy about it.

The Utah-born entertainer on Saturday night became the first guest judge — or "fifth judge" — on the popular BBC reality-competition show "Strictly Come Dancing," the UK's version of "Dancing With the Stars" (which Osmond won in 2009).

But fans of the show were angry that Osmond, 56, was too nice a judge alongside the regulars (who include familiar "Dancing With the Stars" judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli).

"Guest judge Donny Osmond riles Strictly fans," read the headline in The Telegraph. "Viewers threaten BBC with complaints after Osmond 'ruined' Saturday's show," said The Mirror. And The Guardian's Media Monkey blog put it this way: "No puppy love for Donny Osmond."

All the stories reported on fans taking to Twitter to complain about Osmond's generosity with the high scores. Even the singer Boy George chimed in: "I'm lost with Donny Osmond on Strictly."
