This week's Utah Crowd-Funding project launches an epic battle between two tenacious combatants.

Provo developers Jana and Michael Maughan are working on a videogame called "Mormons vs. Zombies." (First person to say "what's the difference?" will get a stern fatherly glare from The Cricket — don't make me turn the Internet around!) It's a side-scrolling fight game for the iOS and Android.

The premise of the game, according to the developers: "The adventure begins when the character's food storage runs dry, compelling the player to make the perilous journey to Welfare Square where they will find an endless food supply, the opportunity to mix and mingle with other Mormons and begin replenishing the earth."

The Mormons depicted in the game include a young mom with a baby carrier, a Boy Scout, an LDS bishop, and a grandma who wields a mean green Jell-O mold.

The Maughans have taken to Kickstarter to raise $87,500 for the game, most of which will go toward design, programming and animation. So far, the campaign has raised $2,368, with a deadline of Oct. 28.

Benefits for backers range from a game download (for $10) to being made a playable character in the game (for $10,000).
