This time next year, a Cannibal will have people screaming their heads off at Lagoon.

The Farmington amusement park has announced its newest roller coaster, called Cannibal, will open in 2015.

"We have named it Cannibal because, in our collective mind, it will eat other roller coasters in their tracks," said Lagoon spokeswoman Julie Freed in a statement.

Cannibal is a steel behemoth that will top out at 208 feet — to be the tallest attraction at Lagoon. Riders will be lifted all 208 feet vertically, then plunged into a free-fall at a break-over angle of 116 degrees into an underground tunnel. The coaster's 12 rider vehicles will speed up to 70 miles per hour through three inversions, and the maximum G-force will top out at 4.2 G's.

And there's another thrill element that Lagoon won't announce yet.

Lagoon says the roller coaster is costing $22 million to build. Cannibal is now under construction, made of steel, and primarily manufactured and constructed locally.
