This week's Utah Crowd-Funding project aims to bring a videogame to life.

Orem filmmaker and composer Josh Aker is a big fan of the videogame "Infinity Blade." He's also an insider, having composed music for that game and several others. That's how he got the idea — and, more importantly, got permission — to pursue making a live-action short film, "Infinity Blade Chronicles," based on the game.

So far, Aker has selected locations, and signed on a cinematographer, visual effects experts and other behind-the-camera crew. He's also cast two of his stars: Kris Holden-Ried (who plays the hunky wolfman Dyson on Syfy channel's "Lost Girl") and Amrita Acharia (who appeared on "Game of Thrones" as Daenerys' handmaiden Irri).

Aker has ambitious goals for the film, and the budget reflects that. Aker is seeking $480,000 from fans, via a Kickstarter campaign.

So far, the campaign has just over a fifth of its goal — $98,127 — with a deadline of Sept. 16.

Incentives for backers range from video journal updates (for $5) to an executive producer's credit (for $10,000).
