Here’s what’s being talked about in pop culture:

• "Transformers: Age of Extinction" scored an estimated $100 million at the box office this weekend, the biggest three-day opening this year. It also took in another $201 million in international markets, including $90 million in China, where part of it was filmed. Proof that stupidity is an exportable commodity. [Box Office Mojo]

• Lifetime has delayed plans for a biopic of the late singer Aaliyah, after Disney pop star Zendaya dropped out of the role. [New York Daily News]

• In memoriam: Soul singer Bobby Womack died at the age of 70; and Meshach Taylor, the comic actor who played the Sugarbakers’ assistant on "Designing Women" and the flamboyant window dresser in "Mannequin," died at the age of 67. [Slate, Entertainment Weekly]
