The Cricket’s Daily 3: Hello Colbert, goodbye ‘Colbert’
Here's what's being talked about in pop culture:
• Thursday's announcement that Stephen Colbert will take over CBS' "The Late Show" after David Letterman's retirement has been greeted mostly with acclaim for Colbert (except for Rush Limbaugh, but who cares?) and mourning for "The Colbert Report." [Washington Post, Vulture]
• Nirvana's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame made for an exciting show Thursday night, with four vocalists — Joan Jett, Kim Gordon, Annie Clark (a k a St. Vincent) and Lorde — filling in for the late Joan Jett. [Entertainment Weekly]
• The "Divergent" movie series is going the same route as "The Hunger Games," "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" — splitting the final book, "Allegiant," into two movies. [The Hollywood Reporter]
