Two Utah dogs earn spots in national competition

Two Salt Lake City dogs will show their stuff in a national competition.

Riot, a border staffy owned by Gosia Skowron of Salt Lake City, and Cisco, a corgi owned by Salt Lake City resident Keith Highley, have made the national finals of the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge, set for St. Louis on Oct. 5.

Both dogs qualified at the recent Western regionals in Las Vegas.

Riot will compete in the small-agility (sort of an obstacle course) and 30-weave (a slalom race) competitions. In regionals, Riot placed second in small-agility, with a time of 33.88 seconds, and a third place in the 30-weave.

Cisco qualified for the 30-weave, coming in first place with a time of 18.06 seconds.
