Another weekend, another change on the Salt Lake City radio dial.

Over the Labor Day weekend, Cumulus Media pulled the plug on its hard-rock station, 94.9 Z-Rock. In its place, it launched Alt 94.9, playing alternative rock music.

Here's the funny thing: Cumulus just two weeks earlier canned its old alt-rock station, The End 101.9, changing it to the soft oldies station Classic Hits 101.9.

Don't expect Alt 94.9 to bring back the hosts Cumulus laid off when it knocked off The End — particularly morning host Jimmy Chunga. Alt 94.9 plays the syndicated Half-Assed Morning Show during Chunga's old time slot.

Earlier this summer, Cumulus also revamped B98.7, axing longtime local hosts Todd and Erin — who recently said on Facebook that they're close to landing a new gig elsewhere on the dial.
