Plans for tonight: Alkaline Trio brings the punk

• A screening of "The Short Game," a documentary that looks at the fierce competition among 7- and 8-year-olds at the World Championship of Junior Golf, is set at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City. Director Josh Greenbaum and producer Chris Leggett will take part in a Q-and-A session, moderated by KUER's Doug Fabrizio. Screening starts at 7. Admission is free.

• Punk band Alkaline Trio performs at In the Venue, 210 S. 600 West, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Bayside. Show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $22, at Smith's Tix and 24Tix.

• Guitarist/songwriter Mark Kozelek (known for his work with Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters) performs at The State Room, 638 S. State St. Show starts at 8. Tickets are $23, at the venue's website.
