Here's what's happening today in pop culture:

• One of the writers of "Star Trek Into Darkness" is sort-of apologizing for the gratuitous shot of Alice Eve in her underwear. He also noted that Chris Pine was shown in his underwear, too, and nobody complained about that. [Entertainment Weekly]

• Actor Steve Forrest — whose 60-year career was capped by playing Lt. Dan "Hondo" Harrelson, commander of the police unit in the '70s TV series "S.W.A.T." — has died at the age of 87. [The Hollywood Reporter]

• Taylor Swift and the final "Twilight" movie lead the nominations for the Teen Choice Awards — further proof that teens make poor choices. [MTV.com]
