Plans for tonight: Santa Claus is coming tonight

• A matinee performance of Ballet West’s production of "The Nutcracker" takes place today at the Capitol Theatre, 50 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City. Show starts at noon. Tickets available at ArtTix.
• The Salt Lake Film Society’s annual holiday gift, a free screening of the classic "It’s a Wonderful Life!", happens at the Tower Theatre, 876 E. 900 South, Salt Lake City. The free show is at 3 p.m. today, and again at 7 p.m. Christmas night. Free.
• Otherwise, the gods of scheduling have left Christmas Eve free for visions of sugarplums and other acts in anticipation of Christmas Day. Merry Christmas, everyone. (The Cricket will be back on Wednesday.)
