Plans for tonight: Getting hardcore

• Hardcore/screamo band Asking Alexandria performs at In the Venue, 219 S. 600 West, Salt Lake City. Opening acts: As I Lay Dying, Memphis May Fire, I See Stars, Attila. Show starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are $30, at Smith’s Tix. Proceeds go to the Mitch Lucker Memorial Fund.
• The Utah Jazz play host to the Denver Nuggets, at EnergySolutions Arena, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Game starts at 7. Tickets available at Smith’s Tix.
• Blues/jazz band Rick Estrin & The Nightcats begin a two-night run at The Sun & Moon Cafe, 6281 Emigration Canyon Road, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 7 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $25, with dinner reservations included (and required in advance), available at the cafe.
