The Cricket's Daily 3: NBC cancels 'Animal Practice'

Here's what's being talked about today in pop culture:
• NBC cancels the terrible veterinarian sitcom "Animal Practice," thus putting one more monkey on the unemployment line. [Entertainment Weekly]
• A movie based on the long-running "Family Circus" comic strip (or, more accurately, comic circle) is in the works, because that kind of biting, topical humor never gets old. [Vulture]
• Did you catch the coverage Thursday night of the Al Smith Dinner? It's sort of the political equivalent of a Friars' Club roast, and both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney got in some zingers. [The Huffington Post]
