Here’s what’s happening today in pop culture:

• Soap star Genie Francis has been let go from CBS’ "The Young and the Restless" due to budget cuts, which may allow her to rejoin ABC’s "General Hospital" (where she starred as Laura Spencer for 31 years) in time for that show’s 50th anniversary. [Entertainment Weekly]
• American culture in a nutshell: The winner of "America’s Got Talent" is a dog act. [Vulture]
