Plans for the weekend: Hard rock, Southern style

• Indie concept band Built to Spill headlines tonight at The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City. Opening acts: Helvetia, Revolt Revolt. Show starts at 9. The show is sold out.

• Punk/reggae band Steel Pulse performs tonight at The Depot, 400 W. South Temple. Show starts at 9. Tickets are $30, at Smith's Tix.

• Jazz/R&B singer Rickie Lee Jones, best known for her 1979 hit "Chuck E's in Love," performs Saturday at the Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheatre, 2250 Deer Valley Drive, Park City. Opening acts: Lucy Wainwright Roche, Carrie Rodriguez. Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets, from $35 to $65, available at the Eccles Center website.

• "Modern acoustic" band Head for the Hills performs Saturday at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Opening act: Brown Bird. Show starts at 9. Tickets are $12, at the State Room website.

• Elecronic-dance duo EC Twins performs Saturday at The Depot, 400 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Opening act: DJ K. Show starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $12, at Smith's Tix.

• Pop mainstays Huey Lewis and the News perform Sunday at Red Butte Garden, 300 Wakara Way, University of Utah campus, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Katie Todd. Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $57, at the Red Butte website.

• Southern-fried hard-rock band Black Stone Cherry performs Sunday at In the Venue, 219 S. 600 West, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Stellar Revival. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.50, at Smith's Tix.
