The other night, The Cricket was flipping through the presets on his car radio – listening, as usual, for a fun song for the drive home. (Even media elites can listen to so much NPR in a day.)

Hitting the button tuned to tuned to 103.1 FM brought a surprise. Instead of hearing some '80s pop classic, there was a blast of some of the most obnoxious, racist and hateful invective you may ever hear coming out of a car speaker.

The man spewing all this bile was nationally syndicated talk-radio host Michael Savage.

On Monday, Salt Lake City/Ogden AM talk-radio station KLO started broadcasting on the FM signal that its parent company purchased last month.

The station, formerly known as 103.1 Jack FM, is now playing KLO's line-up of right-wing bloviators – a list that includes Laura Ingraham, Michael Medved, Dennis Miller, and the aforementioned Savage.

While it may be true that the world didn't need another radio station playing Foreigner and Def Leppard songs all day and night, do we really need another outlet for right-wing propaganda?
