Here's what's happening today in pop culture:
• Comedian Daniel Tosh has apologized for making a joke about rape aimed at a female heckler, after receiving harsh criticism for being sexist. [E! Online, Think Progress]
• Peter O'Toole, the 79-year-old star of "Lawrence of Arabia," "Becket" and "Ratatouille," among other great films, has announced his retirement from acting. "It is time for me to chuck in the sponge. To retire from films and stage. The heart for it has gone out of me: it won’t come back," O'Toole wrote in a "dry-eyed and profoundly grateful farewell." • A woman was struck by a car in front of the San Diego Convention Center on Tuesday, and later died of her injuries. The woman, 53, was a "Twilight" fan in line for this year's Comic-Con, which starts Thursday. [U-T San Diego]
