Here's what's happening today in pop culture:

• Zooey Deschanel will portray country legend Loretta Lynn in a Broadway adaptation of "Coal Miner's Daughter." So says Loretta Lynn, who announced this at the Grand Old Opry, before singing a duet with Deschanel. [The Tennessean, via Vulture]

• Singer Hollie Cavanagh is the latest to be eliminated from "American Idol." It's now down to three: Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips. [Entertainment Weekly]

• A celebrity-studded dinner for President Barack Obama's re-election campaign, held at George Clooney's house, set a one-night record for a political fund-raiser. [The Hollywood Reporter]
