The Broadway Centre Cinemas will be getting its new seats.
The Salt Lake Film Society, the nonprofit that operates the Broadway and the Tower, succeeded in its goal to raise $54,000 by its Friday deadline, the society's director, Tori Baker, said in a statement.
The "Creature Comforts" fund-raising drive was pushing 75 percent of its goal going into Friday - and a final anonymous gift put it over the top. The Broadway's landlord has promised to match the $54,000 raised.
New seating will be installed in all six auditoriums at the Broadway, at 111 E. 300 South in Salt Lake City, in the coming weeks. A thank-you reception and screening for donors is being planned for May.
The new seats have high backs, more leg room, and are staggered to ensure nobody's head is in front of you.
