David Archuleta left a last video blog to his fans before he leaves this week on his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints -- thanking his fans and encouraging them to let him be for the next two years.
"I'm trying to focus on something else there, not my career," Archuleta said in the video, posted earlier Wednesday on his YouTube channel. "I'm going to be trying my best to focus on the people over there, and more one-on-one experiences."
The Murray singer and former "American Idol" finalist revealed for the first time that he's going to South America on his two-year mission.
"I've been trying my best to get ready, and prepared," Archuleta said. "You're moving away for two years, so it's quite the task."
Archuleta has recorded an album, which will be released after he leaves on his mission. While he's gone, Archuleta said, his road manager will maintain the singer's Twitter account.
"[I] appreciate that you guys have still been here," he said. "It means so much that you guys continue to show your support. ... I wouldn't be here without all of you guys, doing what you do."
