Utah Megaplex tops in U.S. for "Potter" midnight opening

Once again, Utah's Megaplex Theatres chain shows it can throw a party.

A Megaplex spokesman reports that Warner Bros. has declared three of the Utah chain's venues - the Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons, Megaplex 20 at The District and Megaplex 12 at The Gateway - placed first, second and third in the country for opening-night box office for last night's midnight screenings of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2."

Also, more than 300 Utahns sat through the 20-hour Potter marathon at three Megaplex locations, while hundreds more put on costumes and joined in "Potterpalooza" parties.
