While Utah waits for that day when the Broadway musical "The Book of Mormon" arrives in Salt Lake City (the subject of today's The Cricket column in The Salt Lake Tribune's print edition), fans are resigned to the fact that to see the show, they'll have to go to New York.

They will have to pay a pretty penny to do so, if they can get a ticket at all.

Bloomberg News reports that "The Book of Mormon" has broken the record for the most-expensive Broadway ticket: $487.25.

That's for a prime orchestra seat bought less than 48 hours before the performance, and includes service charges.

It also presupposes you will be able to get a ticket - which is virtually sold out through the end of the year. (A few single-seat tickets are available, but at about $312 each.)

The old record was $480, set by "The Producers" in 2001. (Though, adjusted for inflation, the ticket for "The Producers" would be worth $612 in 2011 dollars.)
