There are 100 other things I'd rather be remembered for.
But, alas, when people want to talk about sex among soldiers on the front lines of the nation's ongoing wars, I'm the guy they call.
That's owing to a story I penned, back in 2005, about what soldiers do when they are... um... out of uniform.
But I must admit that it was a pleasure to discuss this subject with Anna Maria Tremonti, the host of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's flagship current affairs radio program, The Current.
Seems that many Canadians are doing some hard thinking about this issue in response to the recent news that Brig. Gen. Daniel Menard, the head of all Canadian forces in Afghanistan, has been relieved of duty because of alleged sexual misconduct. Mendard is the first Canadian general to receive a battlefield dismissal since World War II.
Tremonti hosted a fantastic discussion about the rules prohibiting Canadian soldiers (and their south-of-the-border comrades) from engaging in one of life's basic needs while at war. If I had to relive the time in which I nearly was kicked out of a war zone, it was a pleasure to do so on her program.
