Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey opened the team's annual media day by addressing reporters at the Zions Bank Center on Monday afternoon.

Asked about the new-look roster, Lindsey said the Jazz "doubled-down" on their core of young players, who will carry most of the burden this season. Their improvement will determine how quickly Utah's rebuilding process pays dividends.

"We look forward to the challenge," Lindsey said.

Asked how players like Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, Trey Burke and Dante Exum take a step forward, Lindsey smiled and said, "That's a good question. I wish we could quantify that ... and reproduce it on a case-by-case basis. You guys have heard the quote before: 'Players are like water. They always find their level.' So there is always that individual improvement aspect. Hopefully, we can couple it inside a team aspect. But I can't stand here and tell you which players will develop and which ones won't. But we'll make sure to put all our time, energy and resources into each player and, in time, we think that will make [us] a good team."
