Trevor Booker wants to lead uber-young Jazz team

The Utah Jazz wanted to add physicality and veteran savvy to its roster.

Check and check.

The team on Tuesday agreed to terms with free agent forward Trevor Booker, whose toughness inside made him a fixture in Washington last season.

The deal is worth $10 million over two years, according to reports.

Booker was in Las Vegas today, where the Jazz are participating in the summer league, and he spoke with Comcast SportsNet about the move.

"I like their core players. I know some of the players on their team, great group of guys. Young team so I can go in, be a leader as an older guy, something that I wasn’t able to do in Washington. I’m just looking to start a new chapter," Booker said.

The crazy thing: old man Booker is just 26 years old.

That says a lot about this year's Jazz team. A young team has gotten even younger over the summer, with free agents Richard Jefferson, Marvin Williams (and likely) Brandon Rush moving on.

Booker pushes the team's average age up to 24.2 years, the second youngest in the league.
