In Atlanta, Marvin Williams was asked at times to play out of position, moving from his natural small forward position to play shooting guard.
Williams has again been asked this year to play a new position. Only this team, the change has been bigger.
The 6-foot-9 Williams has started at power forward since late November, and while his outside shooting has helped give the Jazz an advantage on offense, the change has also meant Williams has found himself in mismatches defensively.
Playing at 235 pounds, Williams has felt the toll of taking on bigger opponents. In the last three games, Williams has had to face Kevin Love, Nikola Pekovic and Nene.
"I feel like I do OK with the guys that are bigger than me as long as they're not as much of an offensive threat," Williams said. "But when you get a guy like Nene, who can really score the ball and outweighs you by 25-30 pounds, it can be a little difficult."
Jazz coach Ty Corbin is concerned about rest.
"I had a small conversation with him yesterday and I understand," Corbin said. "We've asked a lot of him with this group and playing against big guys."
"We're trying to get him through the rest of the few games so we can get him to a break and get him some rest," Corbin added. "He's been ailing a little bit with his Achilles. So we're watching that a little bit in practice, but he's been resilient."
Williams had offseason surgery to repair his Achilles and has missed time this year with soreness in his heel.
"All the guys are a little beat up," Corbin said, "but he is one we're really concerned about."
