Before Sunday's practice, Utah Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin reviewed his team's public scrimmage Saturday night and discussed its upcoming preseason opener at Portland on Monday:
Question: You were unhappy with the defense in your scrimmage. What bothered you about it?
Corbin: "We were just a little late on the rotations. After watching the film, it wasn't as bad as I thought initially. The guys were making the effort. They were just a little slower than they had been in practice because of whatever their thought process was. There could have been some anxiety from being on their homecourt and being in front of fans."
Question: What will you be looking for defensively in the game against Portland?
Corbin: "Rotations. The dedication to man and ball. Taking the responsibility to guard your man first [and] the weakside guys being able to see the man and the ball and then rotate, whichever way the first pass goes."
Question: In general, what do you want to get out of the first preseason game?
Corbin: "Just trying to find some cohesiveness with the different lineups. Trying to find out which combinations give us the best chance to compete and what rotations off the bench will give us the best chance. ... And finishing quarters, finishing the halves, finishing the game. That will be a key for us."
