Excerpts from a media interview Thursday with the Jazz's Derrick Favors, prior to Utah's practice at Butler University in Indianapolis.Tired of true rumors: I'm relieved now. I'm with a team that, hopefully I'll be here for a while. So my name won't get thrown around in the trade rumors anymore. Salt Lake City: I didn't think I'd be here. But I think I'll get used to it now. Been to Salt Lake City before: This is my first time.Reaction to trade: I was surprised. It just came out of nowhere. … It's a new beginning for me. When I was with New Jersey, we had an up and down season. But now it's just a new beginning for me.Think he'd play for Denver: Actually, I knew it wasn't Denver. It was kind of a relief when the Carmelo deal went down.Being 19 in the NBA: It's been hard. But I just had to adjust to it. I had to get used to everything and just be patient and come out ready to play.Rookie stories: Food, actually. I was used to my momma cooking. When I first got to Jersey and I had to get my own apartment, I didn't have no food. So I had to buy some. What the Jazz expect: I haven't talked to them yet, but I think they plan on talking to me about it. They haven't said nothing to me about it.Working with big-man coach: I would love to, but I'll just have to work on my own til they get that coach.Favorite player: When I was growing up, it was Kobe.Big man: Kevin Garnett. I got to play against him, so I know how that goes.Strengths and weaknesses: Strengths, probably my defense, rebounding, blocking shots. Things like that. And trying to improve my whole offensive game.Go-to moves: I have go-to moves, I just have to perfect. I got to get better at them. Biggest influence: Just all my coaches. High school, AAU coaches, just all of them. Just helping me stay level-headed with things; just getting through this all, as far as NBA life. Toughest adjustment: Just traveling to different cities every night and hearing my name in trade rumors all season.Personality: Kind of a low-key type of guy. I don't like being in the spotlight that much.— Brian T. SmithTwitter: tribjazz
