Sacramento, Calif. — Jazz coach Jerry Sloan spent part of his pre- and postgame interviews Monday playing down the media's attention to him signing a new contract extension for the 2011-12 season.

Sloan originally provided a verbal commitment last November to continue with Utah, and his signature was just a formality. Sloan will not officially determine whether he will rejoin the Jazz until after the 2010-11 campaign is complete, when Sloan will use a two-week evaluation period to make his decision.

"I'm sorry. They asked me a question and I tried to answer it," Sloan said. "[Reporters] had already talked about my contract some time ago."

He added: "That's not a big deal. I don't worry about that. I might not be here — I might not be alive in two weeks."
