Neil Gaiman writing new ‘Doctor Who’ story

The Guardian announced Tuesday that beloved author Neil Gaiman is penning another adventure for the Eleventh Doctor, sparking glee in many a "Doctor Who" fan.

Gaiman wrote two episodes of the current iteration of The Doctor (played by Matt Smith), including the multiple award-winning "The Doctor’s Wife." This time, Gaiman lends his oft-whimsical voice to an e-book tale for The Doctor, "Nothing O’Clock," featuring a new monster called the Kin, according to the British newspaper.

Besides The Doctor, the story also stars Amy Pond instead of the current companion, clearly setting it earlier in the series.

"I set it somewhere during the first season of Matt Smith, mostly on Earth, in our time now and in 1984, but also somewhere else, a very, very long time ago," Gaiman told The Guardian. "I had never created an original monster for Doctor Who and really enjoyed getting to create a creepy Doctor Who monster of the kind that we haven’t quite seen before … I hope that the Kin will get out there and occasionally give people nightmares. And that you will be worried if a man in a rabbit mask comes to your door and tries to buy your house."

"The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Anthology" is due out Nov. 21, two days before the much-anticipated 50th Anniversary episode. The anthology also includes stories from Eoin Colfer, Michael Scott (not the Dunder-Mifflin one), Marcus Segdwick, Philip Reeve, Patrick Ness, Richelle Mead, Malorie Blackman, Alex Scarrow, Charlie Higson and Derek Landy.
