Trail Mix: Trouble in Paria Canyon, art hikes, one long trek
Remember a few weeks ago when the Bureau of Land Management placed that video on YouTube promoting Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness Area? Remember all the safety warnings issued in the video? Now we know why. The Associated Press reports two Texas men had to be rescued in Paria Canyon. One of the hikers had a medical problem. It's a reminder that the thing about wilderness areas is problems become emergencies easily. Mother Nature the artistThe Southern Utah Museum of Art doesn't confine beauty to a gallery. The museum is sponsoring art hikes this summer. An outing last weekend took hikers and art lovers to on the Timber Creek Overlook Trail in Zion National Park, according to KCSG.More outings are planned for the summer. Click here for information. Someone wants to connect the North Country National Scenic Trail, which runs from North Dakota to New York, to the Appalachian Trail, which runs from Maine to Georgia, according to the Associated Press.
