Green River fishing report - Streamer time

Ryan Kelly with Green River Flyfisher found some time on the river. Maybe you should as well.

With lots of blue sky days and warm weather the fishing has stayed really good. Streamer fishing has provided a lot of entertainment. In the winter time the fish are holding in slow to dead water. Working streamers slowly across the bottom has been effective on the A section. Black has been my best color, but that being said, it all I've fished because it's been effective. B and C section fish seem to be less picky about the streamer so play around a bit and see what happens. There have large pods of rising fish on calmer days. I have come across pods of 20-50 fish, but once a few fish are caught the whole pod disappears. There have been #18 BWO's in smaller numbers and moderate number of midges. Midges vary in size from #16-22. Jig fishing has been super effective as well. Same technique as streamer fishing. Work the jig slowly across the bottom. Bald eagles and ducks are all over the river right now. I even saw an eagle attack a duck right in front of the boat. There are still a few folks out on the weekends, but it's easy to have the river to yourself during the week.
