Wayne Rorick, of Payson, displays his icicled moustache and his 12-inch cutthroat trout he just pulled out of his ice fishing spot on Scofield Reservoir. Utah State Parks is holding a Trifishalon ice fishing tournament. The first leg of the tournament was Saturday at Scofield Reservoir, Saturday, December 29, 2012.
Scofield ice fishing tourney a cold affair, but anglers enjoyed themselves

One of my last assignments of the year was to Scofield Reservoir for a story on the annual ice fishing tournament. Despite sub-zero temperatures and less-than-large fish (at least rainbows, which were the only fish allowed to be entered due to special regulations on the cutthroat and tigers in Scofield) it seemed like everybody was having a good time. The tournament is also being used to kick off the first Trifishalon being held by Utah State Parks. Upcoming tournaments will be held at Rockport and Starvation state parks in the coming months.
Here's my story on the Scofield tourney.
