Bear Lake Fishing Report:
Bear Lake has open water on the entire lake. Launching for boats is available at the Utah State Park marina, Rainbow Cove, and Spinnaker Point marina. Ice is stacked up along the shoreline at 1st Point which is preventing launching from that ramp at this time. There is about 5" of new snow on the ground, but the ramps are usable. There is just a little floating ice in some area, but is not a problem at this time. Fishing has been good for cutthroat trout and whitefish. Whitefish are biting on the rockpile in about 45-50’ of water using small jigs or jigging spoons tipped with a meal worm or salmon egg. Cutthroat trout are being caught by jigging and trolling on the rockpile area in 50-60’ of water and off the Cisco Beach area. Anglers who are trolling are using rapalas and flatfish. Anglers who are jigging are using either maribou or tube jigs tipped with cisco fished right on the bottom.
Still ice covered with about 8-10 inches of ice. You can drive up to the reservoir, but need 4-wheel-drive. Fishing has been very good for rainbows. Use jigging spoons or ice flies. Tipping them with a worm or maggot is working the best.
