Learning to fish through the ice is not necessarily difficult, but it is always beneficial to get some help when making your first trips. It is also fun to fish while walking on water with others. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is holding Ice Fishing clinics at Pelican Lake in Uintah County Dec. 31 and Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Basic instruction, including techniques and gear, will be held at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Holes will be drilled and DWR staffers will be onthe ice until 1 p.m. to answer questions. A limited supply of fishing rods, jigs and baits will be available, but bring your own gear if you have it. Call 435-781-9453. I've included the video of ice fishing at Fish Lake because it has a good segment on gear you may want to have for any ice fishing trip.
