That’s how many Mormon missionaries are currently serving in more than 400 missions around the globe.
Before that historic change, there were 58,500 LDS missionaries, so the latest tally represents a 28 percent jump.
To help with the continuing surge, the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has created dozens of new missions, opened a new Missionary Training Center in Mexico City and expanded its flagship MTC near Brigham Young University — with plans to further grow its Provo operation.
