Those of us who work in the media face an ongoing challenge to make sure our coverage addresses the issues and includes the voices of all groups in our community.
As Utah's demographics change, that challenge only takes on added importance.
I'm pleased to be among participants at 8 p.m. tonight in a panel discussion on this topic at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art.
Joining me will be colleagues including KUTV 2News anchor Cristina Flores; former Ano Masima News editor Richard Wolfgramm; and former Salt Lake Tribune reporter Jennifer W. Sanchez.
The discussion will follow the screening by KUED Channel 7 at 7 p.m. of "Ruben Salazar: Man in the Middle." The Phillip Rodriquez film tells the story of the life and mysterious death of Texas journalist Ruben Salazar, who is best known for his reporting of the radical Chicano movement of the late 1960s.
