A Tooele mother who pleaded guilty to involvement in the death of her 5-month-old son will serve her full 15-year sentence, the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole has decided.
She will be released in January 2020.
Connie Jean Long, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree felony child abuse homicide in May 2005. Two months later, she received a prison sentence of one to 15 years. Three other counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Kevin P. Long, her husband, received an identical sentence. He also has a zero-to-five-year term for a third-degree felony drug conviction.
Prosecutors said, according to media reports, that Connie Jean Long was there and allowed the abuse to happen.
The couple called 911 the next day after finding the child was dead. Police said there were other injuries on the infant’s body.
