On a ABC 4 News interview, Rocky told newsman Chris Vanocur that Mayor Ralph Becker's first two years have been a disaster that included clashes with the public over putting a cop headquarters on Library Square and approving an unsightly sky bridge downtown. With very little prodding, Rocky said that if things don't improve fast, voters ought to deny Ralph a second term.
"We need leadership. We need people to take a stand. We need people who will speak for themselves rather then leave it for some spokesperson.”
That statement -- if you add, "We need people who really piss off legislators" -- is a perfect description of Mayor Rocky, who nonetheless insists he's not interested in another reign in the capital city. That means one of two things:
1. Rocky is asking for a little arm twisting.
2. Rocky has cloned himself.
Unfortunately, Vanocur's show aired early Sunday morning when Salt Lake Democrats are sleeping it off.
