Sandstrom's Utah-style law

Utah Rep. Stephen Sandstrom says a tough new immigration bill he is writing will be so
different from Arizona's controversial law on which it is modeled that it should be called simply the "Utah immigration enforcement bill."
Sandstrom is chopping out provisions that a federal judge knocked down in the Arizona law.
Changes in Sandstroms still-secret bill:
- It will not be illegal for day laborers to solicit employment in public places.
- Police can only question a stopped driver about his immigration status -- not passengers.
- Sandstrom's bill would not impound the vehicle of a driver aiding illegal immigration.
Sandstroms explains:
"It still has the same goals - to let people know in Utah we enforce the law - but we're not going to do so in a punitive way. . . .
"I almost want to stop calling it the 'Arizona-style' bill. I want to start calling it the Utah immigration enforcement bill."
