Quarterback Jaren Hall and safety/outside linebacker Hirkley Latu are still wrapping up their junior seasons, but already both prep football stars have decided they want to play college football for BYU. Hall, who is from Maple Mountain High in Utah County, and Latu, who is from Kahuku High on Oahu's North Shore, committed to BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall recently. They will sign National Letters of Intent with BYU in February of 2016. They become the second and third players to commit from the class of 2016. Skyler Southam, a kicker from Heber City's Wasatch High, is also committed to BYU. Hall, 16, is the son of former BYU running back Kalin Hall. He committed to BYU on Thursday afternoon and has said he wants to be the first African-American quarterback to start for the Cougars. Hall would like to go on a church mission before enrolling at BYU and will first play for the Cougars in 2018, if things go as planned. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder also had an offer from the University of Utah. He was receiving interest from Missouri and Arkansas State, according to Scout.com. Latu, 6-3, 200 pounds, committed to the Cougars last week. Like Hall, he will go on a church mission before enrolling and will join the team in 2018. Here's the updated list of BYU's 2016 commits: Jaren Hall, 6-1, 190 QB from Mapleton, Utah (Maple Mountain High School) Hirkley Latu, 6-3, 200 DB from Kahuku, Hawaii (Kahuku High School) Skyler Southam, 6-1, 180 K from Heber City, Utah (Wasatch High School)
