Dallas-area prep receiver commits to BYU
Akile Davis, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver from DeSoto, Texas, announced via Twitter on Monday afternoon that he has committed to play football for BYU.
Davis will be a senior at DeSoto High, which is 21 minutes south of Dallas, this fall.
"Just committed to #BYU," Davis noted on his account. His Twitter handle is @8_GoldenHands.
Davis had recently narrowed his choices to BYU, Indiana and San Diego State, according to several recruiting web sites. He also drew interest from North Texas, TCU, Toledo, Oklahoma State, Maryland, Texas Tech and Bowling Green.
He caught 33 passes in 2013 for 407 yards and five touchdowns last season, making second-team All-District 7 in Texas' 5A Classification.<
Davis is the ninth member of the 2015 signing class to commit to BYU, joining Will Sedgwick, Dayan Lake, Mike Tafua, Devin Kaufusi, David Lui, Khari Vanderbilt, Riley Burt and Kody Wilstead.
