Oregon prep receiver Tanner Shipley re-commits to BYU football

Remember Tanner Shipley? He's the receiver at Wilsonville High School in Wilsonville, Ore., who committed to play football for BYU last June, only to de-commit a month later and re-open his recruitment to other schools.

Monday night, Shipley re-committed to the Cougars, and is expected to sign a national letter of intent next February.

Dallin Leavitt, a safety from Portland, Ore., who has also committed to BYU, confirmed that Shipley re-committed to BYU on Monday night.

Here's a blog I wrote when Shipley de-committed in late July, with comments from national recruiting expert Chris Fetters on what Shipley brings to the table.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver also had offers from Colorado, Wyoming and Oregon State, according to Scout.com.

In case you missed Monday's other big news (although it wasn't a surprise), San Diego State has accepted an invitation to play BYU in the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 20 in San Diego. Here's my report on that.

The big news is college football today is actually just more conference realignment news. The Big East has accepted Tulane as a member in all sports and East Carolina as a football-only member.

CBS Sports is reporting that BYU and the Big East were talking (again) recently, but that BYU has said no -- again.
