BYU, Utah will play in front of a sellout crowd at Rice-Eccles Stadium
You've got an extra 15 minutes, as expected, if you are making your way to the BYU-Utah football game tonight. The game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. MDT now, presumably because the Arizona State-Missouri game will go long on ESPN2, which also has the BYU-Utah game. The crowd is slowly filing in to Rice-Eccles Stadium with 80 minutes before kickoff, and the Utes' 14th straight sellout is expected. Both teams will wear their "home" jerseys tonight, per an agreement between the athletic directors a few years ago, so the Cougars will be in blue tops, the Utes in red tops. There's been some wonderment from BYU fans on the status of quarterback Riley Nelson for tonight's game. Internet rumors have ran wild this week. All I can say is that I ran into a BYU assistant coach in the elevator about a half-hour ago, and he said "everybody is good to go." In this morning's Tribune, I listed three keys to the game for the Cougars: hold on to the ball, establish a running attack, and keep Utah running back John White in check. After all, the Utes are 9-0 when they surpass the 100-yard rushing plateau. I'm sitting next to the Tribune's Utah beat writer, Lya Wodraska, here in the press box and she thinks White will play.
