BYU's football program got its 22nd commitment from a member of the class of 2013 on Sunday, landing Darrin Laufasa, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound running back from Bothell High in Bothell, Wash.
Laufasa's father, John, told me Saturday while the Cougars were practicing in Provo that his son would likely commit if he received an offer later than day from BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall, but would take a day or two to relay that news back to BYU coaches because he wanted to run it by his mother first.
"This is his top choice, by far," John said.
Laufasa also had offers from Idaho, Portland State and Wyoming. He has two brothers, Corey and Jeremia, who play for Washington State -- BYU's opponent in its opener on Aug. 30.
Laufasa is the second running back from the 2013 class to commit to BYU, joining East High fullback Patrick Palau.
