Less than 24 hours after handling San Diego 82-63 on Monday night, the Cougars returned to practice Tuesday as a "banged up" basketball team, in the words of coach Dave Rose. "We are kinda banged up," Rose said. "Stephen's got a knee, Matt's hamstring is kinda sore, and Noah has some issues, Brock has an elbow [problem]. So it was a physical game, and we got some shots up — got a lot of shots up today. We will put the game plan in for LMU tomorrow and get ready." Rose said Stephen Rogers did not practice after apparently re-injuring his surgically repaired right knee Monday night against the Toreros. Rogers will visit a doctor later tonight. "He's got similar pain that he had before he actually hurt it the first time in practice," Rose said. "It has got a little bit of swelling in there. So we will just see how it goes." The coach said Hartsock "took a pretty good beating last night" and has a sore back. Then there's his nose, which was bloodied again during the game. "I don't really know what kind of comment to make about his nose. It has been relocated or dislocated or broke so many times. But he got it hit again. They had to put it back together again. But he will be back. He's a tough kid," Rose said. With Rogers likely not able to play Thursday when Loyola Marymount visits the Marriott Center, Rose said backup point guard Craig Cusick could see more minutes. Cusick hit a couple big shots Monday against USD. "Craig [Cusick] has done a terrific job coming off the bench, and playing both spots for us, actually. He played backup point guard, and he's also played some of the wing positions. I think that Anson [Winder] and Damarcus [Harrison] are the next group of guys that we will go to and just see how the pace and the game is going. But we have a lot of confidence in all our guys. What it means is another guy will get a chance." Responding to a question about Matt Carlino's leadership ability, Rose said that the point guard played a lot better in his third WCC road game than his first two, against LMU and St. Mary's. "The game last night in San Diego was his best complete game, as far as being on the road is concerned," Rose said. Carlino had a large cheering section at the game, and some fans held up a sign that said "Jimmer don't MATT-er."
