Today, Davies received the news he's been waiting for all summer.

He's been readmitted into BYU.

Here's the story I just filed for The Salt Lake Tribune minutes after getting the phone call from BYU spokesperson Carri Jenkins.

And here's the release from BYU, sent out just a few minutes after that:

Brandon Davies Readmitted to BYU

PROVO, Utah (August 26, 2011) — Brigham Young University today announced that Brandon Davies has been readmitted to the university and has enrolled for classes for fall semester 2011. With his readmission to the university, Davies has been reinstated on the BYU men’s basketball team.

Davies started 26 games as a sophomore for the Cougars in 2010-11, averaging 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 24.9 minutes per contest. The Provo, Utah, native posted season highs of 24 points, 15 rebounds, three assists and three blocks and shot .525 from the field and .674 from the free throw line.

Davies earned All-Mountain West Conference Honorable Mention while helping BYU earn a share of the 2010-11 MWC regular season title. Davies has played in 64 career games for the Cougars with averages of 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He will be a junior this coming season.

Statement from Coach Dave Rose:

"Our staff and our players are pleased that Brandon has been readmitted for the fall semester. We're excited to have him back on the team, and we look forward to a great season."

Statement from Brandon Davies:

"I’m excited to be back at BYU and look forward to the future. I’m grateful for this opportunity."
